chill sofa day 🛋️ | slice of life
It’s Sunday and there are no “Sunday scaries” mainly because I enjoy what I do for work and the quirky souls I work with but also because I’ve reframed it as something I get to do not have to do. For those interested I work part time in a tattoo/piercing shop on reception with the office dogs so I’m hardly ever alone or bored. I’ve even drawn my own flash sheet!
Anyway, I woke up at my usual time, showered, slapped on my T gel, did my skincare and immediately got right back to watching The Hobbit which I started yesterday evening. I usually rewatch The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings every single year and this year is absolutely no different.
The rest of the day moved at a gentle pace, exactly how Sundays should. I decided to bake a batch of espresso chocolate chip cookies (the smell of coffee and chocolate lingered for hours and the batter tasted amazing), put together a proper hearty Sunday dinner with a roast chicken and all the trimmings, and even made time to check in on my Animal Crossing island. Daisy Mae sold me some turnips, and I finally built my first little log bridge connecting Nook’s Cranny to the “main” island. It feels good watching Pebble slowly take shape.
Later I closed the curtains, curled up on the sofa, lit a few candles along with my wax burner, switched on the LEDs for that extra soft, warm glow, and carried on with The Hobbit. It’s always comforting to rewatch a familiar story you know will carry you safely from beginning to end. And watching it again has definitely made me so much more excited for autumn.
I rounded out the evening with one of those fresh baked cookies and a cup of decaf earl grey tea in hand. Nothing extraordinary, but that’s exactly the point.
